1845 Fairmont Collection Coins

Some of the oldest dates found in the Fairmont Collection reach all the way back to America prior to the California Gold Rush and the Mexican-American War. At this point in American history, California was a sparsely populated part of the Mexican Republic and Texas was an independent nation, the Republic of Texas. The 1845 Fairmont Collection Coins transport you back to a much simpler time in American history.

1845 Liberty Half Eagles

In 1845, the United States Mint issued fewer than 550,000 $5 Liberty Half Eagles. In total, the US Mint struck this denomination at the Philadelphia Mint, the New Orleans Mint, and the Georgia-based Dahlonega Mint. The Philadelphia Mint was responsible for the vast majority of the coins that year, striking more than 417,000 coins compared to 90,629 for Dahlonega and 41,000 for New Orleans.
