The Year of the Wood Snake

In Chinese mythology, the Year of the Wood Snake heralds a period of time characterized by deep, intellectual thought, strategic thinking, and transformative potential. The combination of wood’s growth-oriented energy and the snake’s inherent traits of of wisdom, intuition, and measured viewpoints make it possible for those born in the Year of the Snake to overcome personal and professional challenges.

Why is the Year of the Snake Sixth in the Zodiac?

According to Chinese mythology, all 12 animals in the Zodiac are arranged according to their finished in the legendary Great Race orchestrated by the Jade Emperor. The animals are organized in order from one to 12 based on their finish in the Great Race, with the snake finishing sixth just ahead of the horse and behind the dragon. The snake achieved this position by exercising the very traits those born under its sign showcase. Using its cunning, the snake coiled around the leg of the horse throughout most of the race, including the dangerous river crossing near the end. As the horse approached the finish line, the snake startled the horse, using its strategic thinking to frighten the horse and use that window of time to overtake the horse to finish sixth.
