Argor-Heraeus

Gold Bullion from Argor-Heraeus at JM Bullion

Switzerland is an internationally-renowned hub of precious metals production. Investors looking to buy gold bars can trust any number of different private mints within the small nation for the highest-quality gold bullion products available. This includes Argor-Heraeus. As part of Heraeus Precious Metals, Argor-Heraeus is recognized as the largest global provider of precious metal industry services. This includes its popular gold bars, such as the Classic series and cast gold bars.

Argor-Heraeus Classic Gold Bars

The most visible product lineup available in the Argor-Heraeus brand from JM Bullion is the Classic Series of gold bars. These products are exceptional minted gold ingots with .9999 pure gold content. The designs of the bars are the same regardless of size and include:

  • Argor-Heraeus mint logo at the top of the obverse field of the bar. This includes a stylized “AH” in the inner ring of a two-ring circle with “Argor-Heraeus SA” inscribed around it. Remaining inscriptions on this face read “Switzerland,” “Fine Gold,” “999.9.” You will also find the individual weight of each bar inscribed on this side, an assayer’s mark, and a unique serial number. Most serial numbers on Classic Gold Bars use a six-digit numeric code.
  • Argor-Heraeus gold bars have no inscriptions on the reverse face of the bar. Regardless of Classic or cast gold bar, this face is left blank on purpose.

Classic Gold Bars from Argor-Heraeus are individually packaged inside of the mint’s assay card capsule packaging. This includes a plastic capsule space at the center for the bar and space around it for an assay card. The obverse of the assay card as the name of the mint and its name “The Golden Link.” There is also a matching serial number for each bar printed on this face of the assay card. The obverse of the bar and the obverse assay card are lined up together in the packaging so you can quickly and easily compare the assay card serial number with that of the number physically inscribed on the bar itself.

The reverse side of the assay card includes the weight, fineness, metal content, a small Swiss flag as the nation of issue indicator, and the signature of the Certified Assayer who assessed the bar after it was produced. Classic Gold Bars are available in weights that include, but are not necessarily limited to, 2.5 Gram, 5 Gram 1/2 oz, 1 oz, and 100 Gram gold options.

Argor-Heraeus Cast Gold Bars

Also produced by Argor-Heraeus are its popular cast gold bars. These simple gold loaf bars have the same inscriptions and markings found on the Classic Series minted gold ingots. The primary difference between the bars in terms of markings is the use of a serial number system that consists of either one-letter, five-number coding or two-letter, five-number coding. Weights have a greater range in the cast series, going as high as 250 grams and 500 grams.

Of course, the physical appearance of the cast gold bars from Argor-Heraeus is different as well. Though neither type of bar features engravings or inscriptions on the reverse, the cast gold bars have a less refined visual appearance with rounded edges and rough reverse fields. The bars have inscriptions that are stamped into the surface of the bar, as opposed to the designs engraved onto the surface in the minted ingot range.

Argor-Heraeus Collaborations

If you look closely at our collection of gold bullion bars at JM Bullion, you will find the Argor-Heraeus name prominently displayed on one other lineup. The Scottsdale Mint’s lunar gold bar series is a collaboration with Argor-Heraeus. The company’s name is featured in the logo on the reverse of these gold bars and its logo has been adapted for the series. It uses the same two-ring circle, but both mint names are in the outer ring this time with the American and Swiss flags featured together in the central ring.
