Gold and Silver Mints**Private Mints**Germania Mint
The Germania Mint is a small, private mint producing silver rounds and bars for investors and collectors. The mint launched a number of popular collections of .9999 pure silver rounds in 2019, with the historic allegory of Germania featured across many of those collections. The silver rounds from the Germania Mint represent one of the few options for .9999 pure silver in bullion rounds. With Brilliant Uncirculated and unique proof versions, Germania Mint silver offers something for everyone. Below, you can learn about the various collections of silver from the Germania Mint.
The leading series from the Germania Mint is known simply as the Germania Series. In this collection, the historical female allegory representing the German people and the German nation. In the collection, the Germania Mint offers a new depiction of Germania with each date mark in the series. Her figure is often depicted wearing a wreath crown and a long cape around her neck that flows back in the breeze. In some designs, Germania’s figure is shown as she was often depicted during the era of the German Empire with a sword in one hand and a shield in the other.
Another major series from the Germania Mint is the Allegories Series. Germania also features in this collection alongside other major female allegories from cultures around the world. Each release has its own distinctive design, pairing Germania with just one other female allegory at a time. Each design is unique in the stances of the female figures and their relationship to one another, with the intent to capture the relationship between those cultures. So far, the collection has featured Germania alongside Britannia, Germania with Italia, and Germania with Columbia, the latter being the historical allegory for the United States of America.
Looking closer at these designs shows you the historical ties between the cultures represented in the female figures. For example, the Britannia and Germania release depicts Britannia exercising caution as Germania approaches and reaches out a hand of friendship. Italia is likewise cautious, but seemingly more open to the overtures from Germania.
Central Europe’s historic cultures included large numbers of Druids. The Druids felt a close connection with the natural world, including the forests around them. The Germania Mint’s Mythical Forest Series is a four-design collection that focuses on the importance of trees and forests to human civilization. Each design focuses on the leaves from a tree, as well as the fruits or nuts that naturally grow on the trees. The planned designs in the series feature the Oak, Chestnut, Beech, and Linden trees.
In the Germania Beasts Series, the mint moves further into the mythical realm by focusing on legendary creatures from cultures around the world. The debut of this series came with the image of Fafnir, a dragon historically written about in Scandinavian cultures as far back as 900 years ago. The Germania Beasts collection was a departure from other collections at the mint, not only in the design focus, but also in the finishes offered. While other collections offer .9999 pure silver in various weights with BU and proof versions, the Germania Beasts were issued with various different enhancements.
The first issue came with a silver BU option similar to other programs, but also came with a ruthenium-and-gold plated round, as well as a ruthenium round with holographic elements on the designs.
Introduced in 2021, the Interkosmos Series at the Germania Mint is one of its newest. The collection will offer a variety of designs celebrating the achievements of the Soviet space program during the Space Race between the United States of America and the Soviet Union. In the first design of the collection, the Germania Mint launched the series with an image of Yuri Gagarin, the first human to ever orbit the Earth. This debut design was released in 2021 to mark the 60th anniversary of Gagarin’s orbit of the Earth in 1961. Subsequent designs in the collection will mark other achievements of the Soviet Union in Space.
