2020 America the Beautiful Silver Coins

2020 America the Beautiful Coin Releases Offered at JM Bullion

The final five-coin release of the America the Beautiful Series arrives in 2020 and JM Bullion has all of the designs available for purchase as the year goes on. The collection will come to a close in 2021 with only one design scheduled for availability in that year, making this the last time you’ll have a chance to get a full five designs. With three US states and two overseas territories featured, the 2020 ATB Series is set to deliver impressive visuals. Read on for more information on each of the 2020 ATB silver coins to come.

2020 National Park of American Samoa

The first release of the 2020 ATB schedule represents the territory of American Samoa in the South Pacific. The National Park of American Samoa is spread across three different islands in the chain: Tutuila, Ofu, and Ta’u. Unlike any other national park in the National Park Service system, the National Park of American Samoa covers a variety of different environments that include coral reefs and tropical rainforests while protecting native fruit bats and Samoan culture. The park covers 13,500 acres, of which 9,000 acres is land and 4,500 acres is coral reefs and ocean coastline.

On the reverse design of the new 2020 National Park of American Samoa coin is a depiction of the protected fruit bat. Known as the Samoan flying fox mother with its pup hanging in a tree. The mother is upside down while the pup clings to its chest.

2020 Weir Farm National Historic Site

For the second release, the 2020 ATB Series comes back stateside to the eastern seaboard location of Connecticut. Located in Ridgefield and Wilton, Weir Farm National Historic Site is one of just two sites in the US National Park Service system focused on the visual arts. The other is Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site. The park was established in 1990 and covers a modest 60 acres of land.

The reverse field of 2020 Weir Farm National Historic Site coin comes with the image of an artist taking in the beauty of the park while pursuing its stated goal for visitors. While communing with the natural beauty of the area, the artist paints on his easel in front of a building at Weir Farm.

2020 Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve

In the third release of 2020, the ATB Series takes us to the U.S. Virgin Islands. Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve is located on the island of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The site contains the location where Christopher Columbus’ team first set foot on land that is now part of the United States of America. There is a National Historic Landmark on the spot and the Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve protects upland watersheds and mangrove forests.

For the reverse design of the 2020 Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve coin, the US Mint features the depiction of a young mangrove tree growing from the water.

2020 Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park

The penultimate release of the 2020 ATB Series represents the US state of Vermont. The Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park covers 643 acres of land around Woodstock, Vermont. The site was originally established by Frederick billings as a managed forest region and a progressive dairy farm. The name of the park honors both Billings as the owner who established the park grounds, and its other owners in the form of George Perkins Marsh, Mary Montagu Billings French, Laurance Rockefeller, and Mary French Rockefeller. The Rockefeller Family transferred the property to the US government in 1992 for the establishment of the park.

On the reverse of 2020 Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park coin is a design of a young woman planting a young Norway Spruce sapling in the managed forest that preserves the natural setting of the region.

2020 Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve

The final coin to be issued in the 2020 ATB Series is that of the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve in the state of Kansas. Located in the Flint Hills region north of Strong City, Kansas, the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve protects what is left of a once-vast ecosystem on the North American continent. Tallgrass prairies once covered 400,000 square miles of land on the continent, but just 4% of that is estimated to remain and most of it is protected by the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve.

In one of the simplest designs of the series, the 2020 Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve silver coin debuts the tallgrass plants blowing the breeze across the prairies as a regal fritillary flies nearby.

Shared Obverse Design for 2020 ATB Coins

As with all releases of the America the Beautiful Series, the 2020 ATB Coins will continue with the left-profile portrait of President George Washington on the obverse field. The design featured on this side is a modernized version of the bust of Washington created by John Flanagan in 1932. It is inspired by a 1786 sculpture of Washington and was placed on the circulation quarter in 1932 to mark the 200th anniversary of his birth. Inscriptions on this side of the coin always include “United States of America,” “In God We Trust,” “Liberty,” and “Quarter Dollar.” For the burnished version of the coin, you will also find a “P” mint mark on this side.
